I enjoyed watching and I found this is very meditating. It is interesting to see how the reduction of some elements of the game repositions me from the player to the audience. It is also nice to see how the tool of entertainment turns into the one of contemplation. thank you for sharing!

Leying's HW# 8/1 Sound Creation: Intro to Sound
I like how you turn daily activities into the sound piece. It is the combination of sounds that are likely I am making and hearing every day but not usually paying attention that much. Making them recorded and played back on the computer refreshes me and makes me reflect my mundane daily activities.

I like how the image also features in this melody. Especially Wishery has interesting intro part that shows how the repetition of sound has used here. It is nice to see as well how this new composition creates a new story that is intertwined with the original one that I  am familiar with.

What I like about your scanography is that they are not documentations of paintings but new images that stand by themselves. It is interesting to see how the scanning process added new qualities and meanings, and thus turned paintings to different imagery data.

I enjoyed watching and liked your decisions on the images, compositions, and movements. I agree with Anita about adding some music, but even without the music, I could feel the waltz vibe, which was fascinating.

This is really cool! I like how this project is interactive both visually and aurally. It is especially interesting to see how the sounds from the participants were rendered and turned into electronic ones that are in accordant with the images.

(HW)9-2 Scratch Experience and Its Art Classroom Connections

  Scratch is a nice platform where the students who are not familiar with coding can begin to play with.

1. Community Exploration: I found Scratch is a nice community where to explore and share projects. Students can search the projects with keyword(s) they are interested and see how other people have explored the concept(s) and visual audible element(s). This exploration can not only help student(s) understand how codes work but also can give a new inspiration.

2. Execution: After individual student plays with image and sound, they can team up, and not only with the sources that provided from Scratch, they can also create their own sources (images and sounds). It opens up all the possibilities to digital media projects.

  Ryoji Ikedais a Japanese sound performance artist. His works are shown in several different forms: performance, interactive installation, etc.His sound performative installation interactive works are mainly with the sound and the visualization of the movement of frequencies. In his pieces, he experiments the edge of the range of human hearing by manipulating the frequency of the noise and sound he is using. 

(HW)8-3 Reflection on Sound Observation

  I like this project how much it makes me concentrated on what I was not focusing on. This sound observation is also connected to the sense of the space - help to understand where one is, and what kinds of conditions space has. I come up with the idea that it would be interesting to make a sound diary for students. This diary is not necessarily including any dialect explanation of what happened and what one has experienced, but made with the composition of sounds one has collected and encountered for a day. This diary will be an another experience rather than a record of the past.

  Zimoun uses the everyday materials such as cardboard boxes to crate sound installations. Small objects such as balls are moving repeatedly with the motors, and thus keep tapping or grazing the surfaces of other materials. These movements are collectively creating sound.

Daily White Noisy Stream

  I collected sounds from daily spaces like a bathroom, bedroom, living room and kitchen. I found that I am surrounded by lots of consistent sounds that I am usually not aware of. I edited them into one sound stream with some manipulation to get rid of each distinguishable sound and mix them into white noisy cloudy sound.
