(HW)9-2 Scratch Experience and Its Art Classroom Connections
Scratch is a nice platform where the students who are not familiar with coding can begin to play with.
1. Community Exploration: I found Scratch is a nice community where to explore and share projects. Students can search the projects with keyword(s) they are interested and see how other people have explored the concept(s) and visual audible element(s). This exploration can not only help student(s) understand how codes work but also can give a new inspiration.
2. Execution: After individual student plays with image and sound, they can team up, and not only with the sources that provided from Scratch, they can also create their own sources (images and sounds). It opens up all the possibilities to digital media projects.

Ryoji Ikeda
Ryoji Ikedais a Japanese sound performance artist. His works are shown in several different forms: performance, interactive installation, etc.His sound performative installation interactive works are mainly with the sound and the visualization of the movement of frequencies. In his pieces, he experiments the edge of the range of human hearing by manipulating the frequency of the noise and sound he is using.

(HW)8-3 Reflection on Sound Observation
I like this project how much it makes me concentrated on what I was not focusing on. This sound observation is also connected to the sense of the space - help to understand where one is, and what kinds of conditions space has. I come up with the idea that it would be interesting to make a sound diary for students. This diary is not necessarily including any dialect explanation of what happened and what one has experienced, but made with the composition of sounds one has collected and encountered for a day. This diary will be an another experience rather than a record of the past.

Zimoun uses the everyday materials such as cardboard boxes to crate sound installations. Small objects such as balls are moving repeatedly with the motors, and thus keep tapping or grazing the surfaces of other materials. These movements are collectively creating sound.

Daily White Noisy Stream
I collected sounds from daily spaces like a bathroom, bedroom, living room and kitchen. I found that I am surrounded by lots of consistent sounds that I am usually not aware of. I edited them into one sound stream with some manipulation to get rid of each distinguishable sound and mix them into white noisy cloudy sound.

Curating Oneself
It becomes easy to create, edit, and share video due to the digital camera, smartphone, software and online platforms. This easy access to make video has been said that it enhances people's story-telling abilities. This also enables people to "curate" their experiences and memories as digital photographs do. People can choose what to show and share. This decision-making involves the decision not only on making contents but also selecting what to show as well as choosing the platform, forms and the community to share.
All these decision-makings involves and reflects one's personality and identity, and going further, shapes and re-identifies oneself. The practice of curating self can help students see what positions and roles they are taking or they prefer to be. Thus, video is not a mere way to share one's story but to show and reflect one's agenda and perspective on oneself.

(HW)7-6 Reflection_Self-assesment and Further Exploration
How to Pattern Data
Through the class, I found
myself into creating or finding patterns, especially from the digital images. I
think it is because digital data are easy to colon and modify
compare to the traditional media.
Digital images are data which are consisted with the
patterns of codes. It is interesting that how the mechanisms of"coding"
and "data" work to the "visual images." How to classify,
categorize or connect images create new meanings and relations becomes also
important to process these data. Thus “criteria" are in need, and once the
criteria are set, they have a huge impact on our perception and understanding
on data. For example, the search engine such as Google has influenced on the
way of collecting, analyzing, sharing and distributing information. I see this
criteria is also the practice of patterning.
I would love to investigate
more on this creating and organizing "patterns" as well as finding
and playing with the existing "rules of patterning."

(HW)6-2 Documented Process of Making Stop Motion
I made very simple stop motion series using a tissue and the sampler of color filters. I was thinking how I can make narratives which are not apparent yet still connote emotional flows in the movement. I decided to use a tissue which is a daily object that everyone can easily access, and the sampler of color filters to create the atmosphere and provide film-like quality. A tissue is easy to manipulate and thus can be in several interesting forms; although I did a minimal intervention in my execution, it can be torn, colored, etc. for more variety.) Its sculptural characteristic is good to play with. The color filters can also be played with its material which I explored a little bit with a gray filter with its reflection.
